About: Spakhoo Temple

Espakhoo Fire Temple or Church, based on evidence, belongs to Sassanid era and is the oldest registered monument in that era in North Khorasan. This historical monument looks like Zoroastrian temples and it is not clear why that is so.
There is an old cemetery near this monument in which dead bodies have not been buried according to Moslems’ method. In fact, the graves have been dug for each family.
This fire temple lies on top of a high hill along a forest replete with pine and cypress located 65 kilometers from Ashkhaneh Road to Golestan Province.
It was registered in the list of Iran’s National Heritage on January 23, 1978 under the registration number of 1579.
