About: Dezful Polband

There has always been the need to establish bridges (Pols) in the southern part of Irandue to rivers full of water. Dezful as one of the most ancient cities of Iran and with a historical background of more than 5000 years has several very old bridges such as a 1741 year old bridge called Band-e Dezful Bridge. The historical Dezful Bridge is on Dez River and it dates back to Sassanid era. It is interesting to know that basically the name of the city “Dezful” has been taken from the bridge, that is, “Dezh Pol” (Bridge Castle). This bridge is called the oldest bridge in the world which was built 18 centuries ago. This Polband has unique features in terms of structure and architecture. All these features such as the materials, the method of building, resistance of the bases and etc. are reasons for the stability of the bridge until now.
