The background of opening the first museum in Gorgan goes back to 1964 in where some of the historical relics were exhibited in the Royal castle of Gorgan. Although, the origin of Archeology Museum of Gorgan goes back to 1976 which was stablished under the title of Grave Stone Museum, and it was turned into the “Archeology Museum” in February of 1988 by adding archeology objects to this museum. In this museum, the history and civilization of the people of Gorgan plain since thousands years ago until now is represented for the enthusiasts.
