Lahijan has several historical buildings. One of these buildings is the tomb of Kashef Al-Saltaneh, one of the interesting monuments. This monument is located on a hill with a view of tea gardens.
Haj Muhammad Mirza Kashef Al-Saltaneh is the first person who brought tea into Iran. He left Iran to India in 1897 with the title of Consul General.
Lahijan is one of the oldest and most beautiful towns of Gilan province which is famous by the name of “City of Tea”, as this town was the first place where tea was planted in 1280 by the efforts of Haj Muhammad Mirza Kashef Al-Saltaneh and then it was spread to other southern coasts of Mazandaran Sea.
