The historical canyon of Chogan is located near Bishapur city in Kazeroun. This historical canyon is like a unique treasure of Sassanid relics and lithography. Shapur River springs from the heart of this canyon and there are embossed images of Sassanid kings such as those in Naqshee Rustam and Behistun and around it, which some of them are unique.
Chogan canyon used to be the traditional place to play polo by the Sassanid kings, and the famous cave of Shapur and the beautiful stony statue of Shapur is located in the middle of its western walls.
This canyon was registered in January 6th, 1932 in the list of Iran’s national relics with the registration number of 158. It recorded in UNESCO in 2018 among other archaeological sites situated in three geographical parts in the southeast of Fars Province.
