Seyed Mohammad Hussein Behjat Tabrizi (born 1285-died 1367) known as Shahriyar was an Iranian poet from Azerbaijan with poems in Turk, Azerbaijani and Farsi languages. He was born in Tabriz and he was buried in Maqbaratoshoara of this city according to his will. 27th of Shahrivar is hid death anniversary which has been named as “Day of Persian Poetry”.
The most important poem of Shahriyar is “Heidar Baba salam” epopee which is counted among masterpieces of Turk azerbaijanni, and the poet has reminded the originality and beauties of the village in it. This collection has set among modern poems and has been translated into several live languages.
Shahriyar was skillful in composing varieties of poems like ode, Masnavi, sonnet, quatrain, modern poetry, but he was more famous in composing sonnets. Among his popular sonnet is “Ali, ey Homaye Rahmat” and “Amadi Janam be qorbanat”. Shahriyar had special devotion to Imam Ali, and also, he had great infatuation to Hafiz.
