Gowijeh castle of Maraghe is a masterpiece of three thousand year lithography belonging to Iranian artists in this county, and it attracts many tourists and enthusiasts to itself. 
Gowijeh castle is in distance of 45 kilometers from southeast of Maraghe and next to Ghouri-chay River. Name of Gowijeh has been adopted from green stones existing in that area. 
This castle is small in size and has been made by human’s hand and it is the result of natural mass. Humans have closed the holes by rubble stones. 
A big door has been made in this castle and this big tunnel-like entrance has been used probably with different corrals, there is a reservoir above the castle in which there is a spring and the used water is replaced by taking water from it. 
Around the castle, the remnants of wall in surrounding has been remained, and the history of building has been estimated as millennium before Christ up to beginning of Islamic era. 
This castle has been recorded in list of national works with registry number 10471 in 1382 (2003).
