The enormous Goyje Bel caravansary is one of the main monuments of the Ahar County. This caravansary is one of the 999 Shah Abbasi Caravansaries in Iran that has been built during Shah Abbas Safavi kingdom.
Goyje Bel Caravansary’s built all covered and it is one of its outstanding features. This caravansary has been designed for mountainous regions and very cold snowy winters and that’s why it is covered. Normaly caravansaries have yard in the middle of them with small rooms all around the yard, that you can find all around warmer part of Iran.
This Caravansary is a good example of mountainous regional Caravansaries.
