Khorram Abad is the center of Lorestan province and is situated in between Zagros valleys. This city has remained from the Elamite civilization, and was known as Khaydalu at the time; Shapurkhast was built upon its ruins during the Sassanid period and it is called Khorram Abad now. Khorram Abad is considered as one of the main tourism centers of Iran and the world, in a way that this city was chosen for the first time in Iran as an exemplary city for tourism by the United Nation’s Regional Office.
