About: Museum of the Qasr Prison

Qasr prison which used to be one of famous prisons located in the heart of Tehran has been turned into a Museum since some years ago. Qasr Museum-Garden which was formerly called Qasr prison was Tehran’s first centralized prison. This prison is now inoperative and it is being visited by public in the title of Qasr Museum-Garden as one Iran’s cultural, historical and artistic centers.
Qasr Garden-Museum was first a castle created by the order of Fathali Shah of Qajar in 1798 and after 130 years, the first prison of Iran was formed on the foundation of Qajar palace that was desolated by a huge flood, and it was named Qasr prison in 1929.
