Khosh Yeylaq wildlife shelter is located in the north east of Shahroud town. Animal habitats and plant coverage of this area is very variable. This region has a special and valuable life variety for having distinct natural views and variable ecosystems including forest, mountain, Caspian Sea humidity and dry and arid plain ecosystems and it is one of the rarest wildlife shelters of Iran.
Khosh Yeylaq preserved district is one of the first preserved districts of the country which was announced preserved in 1972 and it was changed to the title of wildlife shelter since 1985.
