Bujaq national park is located in Gilan province and in the Astaneh Ashrafieh district. This park has an area of 3250 hectares and was preserved for the first time in 1998 for prohibition of hunting in this area. Currently, according to the directive 232 of June 12th, 2002, this park is considered as one of the national parks of the country.
Bujaq national park of Kianshahr is located in the free zone for its tourism and ecotourism usages.
Some of the birds of this lagoon can be named: Great Cormorant, yellow legged gull, red tipped coot, Forest Finch, Great white Heron, green tipped coot, black headed coot, Little Heron, Solitary Sandpiper, cattle egret, Pied Wagtail, Robin, Western marsh harrier, Little Snipe, Common Snipe, Common reed bunting, Greater Scaup, Tufted duck, Coot, Gadwall, Little grebe, Little coot, Northern Pintail, Thrush nightingale, Kingfisher, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Pochard, Red-crested pochard, Little Mesophoyx, Water Pipit, Great Curlew, Northern shoveler, Northern Lapwing, Grayleg goose, Sanderling, red tipped coot, Eurasian teal, Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Chiffchaff, and Wren.
