The history of Alaki caravanserai of Marand turns back to 731 AH in era of Abu Sa’id Bahadur Khan, the last powerful sovereign of Ilkhanate. This caravanserai is one the most glorious mason of its time and it may have been used as castle or site of reign.
A 3000 year old castle with exclusive architect, great walls and strong braces has been located in Harzand-e Atiq village in Marand County that despite its ancient history, it has been known wrongly as Hulaku castle.
