About: Pashtou Castle

This monument has been built in Pishtab Village in Hurand District with a height of 3000 meters and belongs to Arsacid period. The castle walls are very high and rocky, and they are surrounded by precipices. The only entrance way to the castle is a passage from north with 220 stone hand-carved steps. Ballast, mud clay mortar, Sarooj, and some bricks have been used to build the walls of this castle. Old unadorned pottery found in the castle suggests that this castle has been utilized in early period of Islam's dominance on Arasbaran and Garadagh. Pashtou Castle, which looked like Babak Castle or maybe coincided with it, would be in military use while battling against Arabs ruling the area.
Pashtoo Castle has only one narrow passage to enter. There are horrible precipices in other three parts of it, which have made the castle impenetrable. The castle dates back to Arsacid and Sasanid periods.
